WASHINGTON (NNS) -- The Chief of Naval Personnel launched a Web page to serve as an additional resource for the Navy Total Force and their families. The new page, located at www.navy.mil/cnp, features news stories, podcasts and videos to update the force on the latest in personnel programs, policies and other areas which impact today's force.
"We live in an age where our force increasingly turns to the Internet for timely and accurate information. This is just one more option to provide information to our Sailors," said Vice Adm. Mark Ferguson, chief of naval personnel.
The page features links of interest for families, active duty Sailors, Navy civilians and Reservists. Topics range from health care and financial preparedness to education resources for families.
Also found on the new leadership page is information on CNP's top priorities to include training, manpower and diversity outreach policies and programs.
For more news from the Chief of Naval Personnel, visit www.navy.mil/cnp.

Navy Still Reigns Supreme!
Congrats to the Navy football team in beating Army yesterday 17-3, making it the eighth straight win over the Army. As the Navy coach states in the video below, this is just a game between two friendly rivals. In reality what we're watching is America's future leaders showing their grit and determination, and these players--on both sides of the ball--are there to learn how to lead in the trenches and work as a team to get the job done.
But, while this may be just a game, it's still a point of pride for us in the Navy. And the Navy still reigns supreme! It's okay though, there's always next year, right Army? :oP

MCPON Pimps Social Media
In recent news, MCPON Rick West made a push for the use of social media like Twitter, Facebook and Myspace.
According to reports, the MCPON's Facebook page has more than 10,000 fans and receives more than 2,000 visits a day to read about his travels and meetings with Sailors across the Fleet. The MCPON likes the use of social media because of the 2-way communication that social media brings to the table.
It makes sense that we would see this day though. Facebook now has more than 350 Million users, and more and more our Sailors are congregating in the cyber realm talking about the issues they face today. In order to stay connected and keep people informed you have to adjust to the information age.
Like it or not, these are the days where we will see Career Development Boards taking place on Facebook. Live, breaking news will be seen on Twitter before we hear about it on CNN or read it in the Washington Post. Hell, we even have a Cyber Command that is responsible for space.
Welcome to the future, Shipmates!

Remembering Pearl Harbor
Shipmates,
Today marks the 68th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. All tolled at the end of the day on 7 December 1941, the Japanese sank four battleships (two of which were raised and returned to service later in the war), three cruisers, three destroyers and one minelayer, and destroyed 188 aircraft. The attack killed 2,402 and left 1,282 wounded.
Through their heroic actions fourteen officers and sailors were awarded the Medal of Honor, including Chief Petty Officers John W. Finn, Edwin J. Hill, Thomas J. Reeves and Peter Tomich.
I've posted a couple of short videos about that "day of infamy" below to commemorate this solemn anniversary and remember the fighting spirit of those who have gone before us.
Also, a little known fact: The last surviving vessel from the Pearl Harbor attack that is still afloat is the USCGC Taney (WHEC-37), located in the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD as a museum.

Welcome aboard!
This is the new site created specifically for the CSRA CPOA. Our intent is to keep its members informed of what is going on in our great Navy, local commands and communities, and how our CPOA is involved in all of them.
We'll post pictures from our events, alerts for future events and meetings, and whatever else seems pertinent to Chief Petty Officers located in the CSRA--past and present.
We do not pay dues, so any initiated Chief Petty Officer who is currently, or has ever been, located in the CSRA is more than welcome to participate at our meetings and within this blog. The greater the participation the stronger we are.
If you'd like to see something specific on here, have an issue with our site, have a suggestion for improvement or would like to be a contributer of original content, please email us at csracpoa@gmail.com.
See you all soon!
