Remembering Pearl Harbor
Shipmates,
Today marks the 68th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. All tolled at the end of the day on 7 December 1941, the Japanese sank four battleships (two of which were raised and returned to service later in the war), three cruisers, three destroyers and one minelayer, and destroyed 188 aircraft. The attack killed 2,402 and left 1,282 wounded.
Through their heroic actions fourteen officers and sailors were awarded the Medal of Honor, including Chief Petty Officers John W. Finn, Edwin J. Hill, Thomas J. Reeves and Peter Tomich.
I've posted a couple of short videos about that "day of infamy" below to commemorate this solemn anniversary and remember the fighting spirit of those who have gone before us.
Also, a little known fact: The last surviving vessel from the Pearl Harbor attack that is still afloat is the USCGC Taney (WHEC-37), located in the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD as a museum.

A Tribute To Chief Petty Officers
Here's a great video about Chief Petty Officers. I'm sure we've all seen it before, but I love to bring it back from time to time. I still haven't figured out how to embed this one, so just click on the link below to watch the video.
